Both observation and instinct are intrinsic to my work. I translate the world around me with strong, colorful imagery and an affinity for the natural world. While I’m always on the lookout for the visual excitement that surrounds me (especially in the ordinary spaces which are so often overlooked), I hope to convey a sense of place and playfulness in my work. Among the many subjects I explore are animals, interiors, portraits, landscape and, lately, a fascination with the reflective surfaces of classic cars.
After earning a Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University, I was an art director at an advertising agency, worked in publication and graphic design. I’ve been painting since childhood and, recently, exploring sculpture through stone carving. I'm delighted to find that these disciplines integrate in unexpected and gratifying ways.
