Lynne Brady
My art work is an expression of a lifetime of enjoyment and immersion in the visual world. Subject matters vary widely: nature, people, current affairs, the built environment. All reflect my visceral response to what I see and feel.
Using the visual tools shared by both architecture and painting, I attempt to
explore the massing of shapes, the play of light and shadow, the vibration
of warm next to cool, the tension of figure against ground.
My approach to painting is simultaneously intuitive and intellectual. I try to
weave together shapes, colors and meaningful images to open us up to our
feelings and imagination.
As an architect, Lynne Brady has been involved in the visual arts her entire
adult life. Intellectual curiosity and appreciation of the visual world led her
to an undergraduate degree in art history, followed by classes at the Art
Students League. Subsequently, she moved to Washington DC and worked
at the Library of Congress as a rare book and art on paper conservator.
Her journey eventually took her to the University of Virginia where she received a Master of Architecture degree. For over thirty years she has
been a practicing architect in New Jersey and New York.
